INTRODUCTION
If you are looking for an
Easy, Secure and Affordable remote access solution, please read on.
Getting the VPN appliance up and running is a matter of minutes, requiring no technical experience.
The OpenVPN appliance by ArrowDot is a professionally configured implementation of OpenVPN.
This appliance provides an enterprise grade VPN for an investment of less than 10% of that required
by proprietary VPN vendors.
OpenVPN is a prime example of open source software offering businesses a real advantage over proprietary
alternatives. It provides network communications between two or more computers or networks with mature
encryption technologies and standard network protocols.
For creating enterprise-level Virtual Private Networks, it's license cost is attractive: none.

DOWNLOADABLE
That's right – you can download this appliance. No waiting for delivery of a physical appliance or other hardware.
Just download the appliance and get started immediately ...
THE PRICE
Buy the device for a single payment of $499, or
rent a device for $49/month. No hidden fees, no client licensing,
no ongoing maintenance fees and no installation charges.
Why $499 ?
There are a number of reasons:
1) This is less than 10% of equivalent
proprietary alternatives.
2) This is less than the price of half a day
of technical consulting. We believe it
would take the average technical
consultant at least a day to install
and configure an equivalent solution.
3) We want it to be easily affordable.
If cash flow is a concern, you can also
rent a device for $49/month. For information on payment options, please email
us at

NO NEW HARDWARE
Install the appliance on an existing computer on your network. That's it.
You don't even have to make any changes to your gateway device or firewall.
ArrowDot appliances have a very small footprint, requiring minimal resources to run. This means
that chances are very good that one of your existing computers will be able to host the VPN.
We suggest you put this appliance onto a machine that can be left running.
TRIED AND TRUSTED
OpenVPN was named as the best open source VPN for 2007 by InfoWorld.
To quote the press release:
"OpenVPN simply outshines its competition."
OpenVPN is in use by thousands of organizations. There are also numerous commercial applications that
are built on OpenVPN and the technologies employed by OpenVPN.
This is no fly-by-night product.
Since its launch in 2002, OpenVPN has gained a tremendous following.
ENTERPRISE SECURITY
OpenVPN uses the same cryptographic protocols that provide secure communications to your Internet Banking sessions.
Both the ArrowDot VPN appliance and your bank enforces 128-bit SSL encryption. This means that your
VPN sessions are as secure as your internet banking sessions.
If the above is quite enough jargon for you, feel free to
skip the rest of this topic.
If you have a good understanding of Internet Security and want to know more about the OpenVPN
security model,
read on ...
ENTERPRISE SECURITY
OpenVPN uses an industrial-strength security model designed to protect against both passive and active attacks.
The OpenVPN security model is based on using SSL/TLS for session authentication and the IPSec ESP protocol for
secure tunnel transport over UDP.
OpenVPN supports the X509 PKI (public key infrastructure) for session authentication, the TLS protocol for
key exchange, the OpenSSL cipher-independent EVP interface for encrypting tunnel data, and the HMAC-SHA1
algorithm for authenticating tunnel data.
Even more ...
ENTERPRISE SECURITY
OpenVPN has been built with a strongly modular design. All of the cryptography is handled by the OpenSSL library,
and all of the IP tunneling functionality is provided through the TUN/TAP virtual network driver.
The benefits of this modularity can be seen, for example, in the way that OpenVPN can be dynamically linked
with a new version of the OpenSSL library and immediately have access to any new functionality provided in
the new release.
STABILITY
OpenVPN has been rigorously designed and tested to operate robustly on even unreliable networks.
Even if your internet connection goes down for hours, your VPN connection will resume as soon as
internet connectivity is re-established.
You could even let your machine go into sleep mode during a VPN session. As soon as the machine
wakes up again, your VPN session will resume.

STABILITY
Here is some more technical information from the OpenVPN web site:
“A major design goal of OpenVPN is that it should be as responsive, in terms of both
normal operations and error recovery, as the underlying IP layer that it is tunneling over.
That means that if the IP layer goes down for 5 minutes, when it comes back up, tunnel
traffic will immediately resume even if the outage interfered with a dynamic key exchange
which was scheduled during that time.“
SCALABLE
OpenVPN is in use by a wide range of organizations, from a handful of users to hundreds or even thousands of users.
Using the ArrowDot appliance, the average desktop PC, will be able to host dozens of concurrent connections.
You could for example start by placing the appliance onto any existing desktop PC that can be left running.
Should your VPN traffic grow to the point where more processing power is needed, the device can simply be moved
to an incrementally more powerful PC.
CROSS-PLATFORM
OpenVPN supports most operating systems in the known computing universe, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS X,
the three BSDs, and Solaris.
OpenVPN's user-space implementation allows portability across operating systems and processor architectures,
firewall and NAT-friendly operation, dynamic address support, and multiple protocol support including
protocol bridging.
